Today, the Cleveland elementary school officially opened its $15.7-million-dollar facility.
“It’s an exciting day, a long awaited day for our students,” said school principal Joelle McIntosh. “This school is designed to enhance learning and prepare our students for the 21st century.”
Nathan Hale Elementary School is one of three new Cleveland Metropolitan Schools opening this week.
The children say the new building has become a new source of motivation.
“It’s better because we’re in a new environment, and it makes kids want to come ot school because it’s clean,” said eighth grade student Leandranique miles. “It was unorganized at the old school and now its very organized.”
One of Desmar Lewis’ favorite changes is the new music room.
“I love music,” Lewis, an eighth grader, said. “In the old school, you could hear the music in the next classroom. But now, the music just stays in this one. It’s nice. I like it a lot.”
