COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP, Ohio–One last minute gift you give could save lives — and it won’t cost you a thing.

The American Red Cross will host a “Pound for a Pint” blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Columbia Township Fire Department, 25540 Royalton Road in Columbia Station.

Firefighters are asking people to bring friends and donate this last-minute Christmas gift.

“It’s a giving season. Give that blood, give that free gift to somebody,” said Lt. Brett Heidecker of the Columbia Township Fire Department.

In return, each donor will recieve a free pound of coffee grounds from Dunkin Donuts.

Heidecker said it’s the perfect gift to help the Red Cross, especially as the organization face low blood supplies to help those in need.

“Help somebody out, help another family out,” he said. “And the fact that you’re giving to somebody that you don’t know who’s getting exactly, I think makes that gift that much more appreciative to somebody.”
