Tonight’s ever-so hot-hot-hot episode covered a lot of ground, as many characters faced rude awakenings. And we get some answers.
WHODUNIT
The question boggling me this entire season—whodunit—was answered: Michael’s wife, Vanessa, killed Sydney, as she was angry with her husband’s mistress. I truly wasn’t anticipating her to be the murderess, but it all fits the plot well—a first for Melrose, known for its slightly tacky storyline.
At the same time, we learn Vanessa had an affair with her now step-son, David. (It’s OK, she tries to plant the murder weapon on him later, we find out.) Anyone else grossed out by the fact? Eh, it’s L.A. What do you expect? Too much sunshine bleaching the brain, I guess. The ironic twist? That David could be Noah’s father, not his brother. Quite an incestuous crew. But then again, the roommates at 4616 tend to partner-swap just about any day of the week. Of course, the paternity of the little bro might never be exposed, as Violet axed Vanessa for killing her mom. I’m just glad it didn’t turn into “Wild Things,” you know, where a catfight turns into one incredibly H-O-T make out session.
A FINAL LOOK AT SYD
Since Sydney’s death is no longer a mystery, I’d imagine this will be the last of her. But considering the Melrose writers resurrect just about anybody, I’m sure we’ll see her perfectly Botoxed-bod in a few more upcoming episodes. After all, she and Amanda had a pretty lofty art-smuggling scheme going on. Someone’s gotta pay up! Also, did you catch that really endearing moment between Violet and Syd? Makes Vi seem like way less of a psycho—quite a feat for actress Ashlee Simpson.
THE BREAKUP
It’s about friggin’ time. The world’s most boring couple needed to split. And I’m glad they did. I don’t care much for Jonah turning to resident blonde Ella, but at least she’s interesting. Kinky nights are definitely in store.
Then Auggie confesses his feelings to Riley, only to get shut down. It’s really an unbelievable move, considering the characters have personalities that seem way more in-sync than most. (And how can she turn down those abs? Ahh…) Maybe they can bring back Auggie later in the series? A little reunion to stir up the love fest, perhaps? Or at least another opportunity to show off his hunky bod!
HARSH REALITIES OF HOOKERVILLE
My favorite character of MP, Lauren, faces the harshest of realities in tonight’s episode: that all her clients may not have the best of intentions. She was drugged by a client, whom basically left her for dead. She’s lucky David came to her rescue, but I bet it’ll lead to more lies—and eventually their falling out. Don’t worry; as previews show us, another new resident doctor is coming to town. Let’s hope he’s swift enough to knock some sense back in our brunette bombshell and get her back to the books—not to booking jons.
So my verdict for tonight’s episode? Perhaps the best yet. I can’t wait until the show returns for the remainder of the season in March.

So glad they’re getting rid of Vi. But Auggie? So cute!
