Inside the quiet Cuyahoga County Public Library in Strongsville is a room stirring quite a buzz.

“It’s a flurry of scissors and paper…and coupon clippings,” said librarian Heather Timko.

Timko, along with other bargain hunters, meet up once a month with the Strongsville Saves Coupon Club.

“I like to collect a lot of animal coupons: food, shampoo,” said Strongsville resident Debbie Ogle. “When I come out here, I bring my coupons, other people bring coupons and we just pass them around the table and people take what they need.”

Every week, Ogle scopes out the sales ads for maximum savings. This past year, she’s saved more than $1,200 at Giant Eagle alone.

“I look in Marc’s. I look in K-Mart’s, CVS, Walgreens,” she said. “You can save a lot with coupons.”

They’re just a bunch of shopping-savvy women, with different ways to saving some serious cash.

“There are different blogs out there that help you, so you don’t have to do all of the leg work,” said Timko, who organized the group late last fall “You can match the sale ads with the coupons by going to a different website.”

With a little research, even for those of us who are less-than-enthused to grab the scissors, a great deal may just be a snip away.

“You want to look for buy one, get one free coupons, high value coupons,” Timko said. “It’s a great way to save money by clipping coupons.”

The Strongsville Saves Coupon Club meets from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month at the Strongsville Library, at 18700 Westwood Dr.
