But for some North Olmsted shoppers, it’s not all fun.
“I parked in the wrong place in the mall, and I have two crutches,” said Lakewood resident David Coaster.
Much like Coaster, for those of us who feel a little lost at the mall, you can bet in today’s digital age, there’s an app for that.
Westfield Great Northern Shopping Center launched a new iPhone application in November.
Mall marketing director Annie Dorsey said the app has been downloaded to more than 1,000 devices.
Shopping deals, a list of new stores arriving at the mall, driving directions and parking are among its features.
“If I had it, then I’d know where to park instead of having to get to the jewelry store to get to the chocolate place,” Coaster said. “I would have used it in a heartbeat.”
Even the malls most experienced shoppers can see why it’s stirring quite a buzz.
“I came here with some friends after classes today,” said Lorain County Community College student Greg Rivers. “It’s a cool app if you had to walk into a store, and you got the app for it and it tells ya everything in the store right there.”
It’s a virtual personal shopping assistant, right in the palm of your hand.
“It’s the way things are going. You’ve got to stay tuned in,” Coaster said. “It’s scary sometimes…my phone’s smarter than me. I still got to figure out how to use it. That app would have been great.”
Later this year, Dorsey said the Westfield Malls app will be available on the Blackberry and Droid.
