Now a local restaurant considers taking Jim Tressel off the menu.
Hyde Park Prime Steakhouses offer a steak named after the former football coach.
Despite media reports saying the chain dropped the item, partner Joe Saccone said the future of the Tressel steak remains unclear.
“There’s no decision to take steak Tressel off,” Saccone said. “We love the guy, and he’s done a lot of great things for Ohio and Ohio State. No decision’s been made.”
Hyde Park usually names a steak after a current Ohio State coach. It’s been a tradition at the restaurant for the past 20 years.
It’s believed the restaurant may rename the New York Strip steak after basketball coach Thad Matta. Restaurant co-founder Rick Hauck told the Associated Press on Friday he has not made up his mind on that decision.
The Tressel steak comes in a 14- and 18-ounce portion. It is served with garlic cloves, mushrooms and garlic butter.
Tressel resigned Monday for not telling Ohio State or officials about his players selling memorabilia for cash or discounted tattoos.
