CLEVELAND–Hundreds of people headed to Progressive Field today, but it wasn’t for a game.
Fans are looking to get fit through Let’s Move It Monday’s, a free health and wellness program by the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Clinic.
“I think it’s awesome,” said Beth Fusco, a resident of Hinckley. “I think it’s a great opportunity to get in shape. It’s an awesome opportunity. Picture opportunity to see home plate.”
Attendees are invited to come to the ballpark on select Mondays to speak with health experts and walk around the warning track during their lunch hour.
One lap around the field is a full quarter-mile walk.
“Just the fact that it’s a full quarter mile the whole way around, made it for an easy way to break up your laps. Also gives you a gauge of how big this place is,” said University Heights resident Todd Emery.
For some, a visit to the field help revive their hometown pride.
“It’s been like maybe 8 to 10 years since I’ve been to a game, and I was kind of up far,” said Cleveland resident Anthea Brown. “It’s amazing to be back here.”
For other fans, they say there’s no better season to come down to the field.
“Absolutely, with the Tribe at half game back going into the All-Star break,” Emery said. “I mean, I think if anyone said that was going to happen in March, we’d all be really excited, so looking forward to a strong and exciting second half. Hopefully walk on the field where we’ll see some playoff baseball come October.”
