AKRON, Ohio–Little Molly can’t wait any longer.
The 11-year-old is ready for the highly anticipated event at the Norris household: the unveiling of her new bedroom.
“Well, I finished chemotherapy for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in January, and I qualified for making a wish,” Molly said. “I’m just so excited.”
Molly was diagnosed with the life-threatening condition in October 2010, so the Make-A-Wish Foundation decided to fulfill her dream.
Levin Furniture and Broyhill Furniture partnered with the charity to deck out her room with all things bright and bold.
“So told them she loved zebra stripes and she liked blue, and they kind of, this is what happened,” her mother, Jody, said pointing around the room “It’s beautiful. It’s like something you would see in a magazine.”
The new decor is a vast transformation from what was there before.
“Just like any 11-year-old’s room. It was messy,” Jody laughed. “Stuff everywhere. Her dresser was actually broken cause she had so many clothes in it.”
Molly’s wish is among the most popular for Make-A-Wish. The organization grants about 400 room makeovers a year and about 150 wishes of all kinds in Northeast Ohio.
“She was in here quite a bit because she didn’t feel well and just wanted to lay around,” Jody said. “This is kind of her sanctuary.”
It’s a dream come true for a little girl who’s had a tough year and just wants to feel at home.
“It’s important to me,”Molly said. “Like when I’m a teenager, I’ll still like the room. It’s not like all posters and there’s something and as I grow up, I won’t like it anymore. It’s awesome.”
