There’s a card for every occasion.
Now, Hallmark unveils a new line of greeting cards for the newly unemployed.
“Birthdays, anniversaries, weddings… but the unemployed?” questioned Alyssa Heater of Sandusky. “It’s kind of crazy, but with the economy nowadays and more people being out of work, I think that it’ll go over well.”
The company released six cards specifically for job loss and the recession.
The unemployment rate is currently at 9.1 percent. With nearly 14 million Americans unemployed, some say the cards arrived at the perfect time.
The cards range from sensitive to those with a bold sense of humor — something Cleveland resident Sharon Williams said may help take the pressure off those looking for work.
“When this happens, you don’t know really what to say to people,” Williams said. “It is what it is. People are losing their jobs. People are probably thinking this and haven’t said it.”
