It may have been in the 60’s today, but winter has arrived at Progressive Field.
It’s the second “Snopening Day” of Indian Snow Days, with sliding into home taking a whole new meaning.
Hundreds came to take their first steps on the outfield, skating around the field and snow tubing on the popular eight-lane Batterhorn.
“It was fun. We slid down backgrounds,” said Allison Mower, a teenager from Medina. “I was screaming the whole way down.”
New on the infield is the Frozen Diamond, where Ohio State and Michigan will hit the ice on Jan. 15.
The indoor warming area is also new this year, featuring air hockey, pitching games, billiards, food and a play area for younger kids. There’s also a place where you can make your own holiday ornament for free.
Residents say it may seem bizarre to pay for snow–since it’s very present here in the winter–but for those who want an early peek at winter, it’s worth the time.
Snow Days runs until Jan. 16. Tickets cost from $5 to 31.
On Nov. 28, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12, you can visit Snow Days for free ice skating from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The free event is a part of a health “Let’s Move It Mondays” health initiative with the Cleveland Clinic.
