ELYRIA, Ohio — A Maple Heights woman allegedly tried to run down another woman right outside her Elyria home Friday morning.

It happened on Pratt Boulevard just before 11 a.m. Elyria police officers responded after receiving calls about a car that had struck another vehicle, hit a residence and nearly run over a woman.

According to a police report, Antonette Croson, 18, went to pick up an acquaintance outside her home. When Croson arrived, she said the other woman began arguing and throwing rocks at her car. However, witnesses told police that Croson first drove up on the sidewalk and tried to run the woman down multiple times. The woman was able to flee to a friend’s house, where she stayed until police arrived.

Croson was arrested and charged with felonious assault, reckless operation and reasonable control. She is being held in the Lorain County Jail and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
