BAINBRIDGE, Ohio – If you thought Northeast Ohio escaped old man winter, think again.
Overnight snow blanketed roads, cars, houses – just about everything in Bainbridge Township.
“We skipped winter,” said John Kovach of Cleveland. “We went from fall to spring, and we had a couple days of summer and now it’s winter again..”
Certainly Geauga County is no stranger to hard winters, but residents were taken back by the snow, especially in mid-April.
“I’d seen on the news, they said our snowfall was cut in half, 60 inches we had last year compared to 30 inches this year,” said Mike Equista of Bainbridge. “That’s kind of odd, so who knows what’s going to happen for the summer.”
This season has been one of Northeast Ohio’s mildest yet, with high temps already reaching the 80’s.
“We really shouldn’t complain, but it’s easy to,” said Julie Branisel of Chagrin Falls. It’s crazy. It’s freezing. We went from tank top weather to winter coat weather and I don’t like it…I hope the thaw is going to come back.”
But just like the rain, residents want the snow to “go, go away,” and soon, bring on a beautiful summer.
“Who knows what’ll happen,” Kovach said. “It’s early spring, so that’s normally when it snows apparently. Winter is normally when it’s 70, like it has been, and now it’s spring, so it’s time to snow…so summer should be more snow?”
