People are flocking to Cleveland by the thousands to catch a glimpse of the United States Marine Corps.
But as an added bonus, the national Marine Week is also peaking interest for recruits, said Staff Sgt. Joshua Morris.
“Ohio’s always been a very pro-military state,” Morris said. “Everybody just wants to know more and are very proud of us. They’ll shake your hand, really enjoy being here.”
When it comes to recruiting, Morris said Ohio has typically lead the country, with more than 9,000 active and reserve Marines in the state.
Ryan Wasserman, 24, hopes to join the 200,000 other Marines in the country.
“ With the Marine Corps, there is nothing but opportunity,” he said. “There’s only your opportunity to move up and move ahead in life.
The Beachwood native said he’s excited for what the military will do to his future and hopes others will consider making it part of theirs too.
“You want to go to school? You want to see the world,” Wasserman asked. “Whatever you want to do in your life, you can do it. And the Marine Corps will be there for you, to give you that base, that stability to do what you want.”
