WILLOUGHBY, Ohio – Local police are on the lookout for a suspect caught stealing a purse at a CVS Pharmacy at SOM Center Road and Ridge Road.
Willoughby Police Department posted video on Facebook and Youtube, asking the community to identify the alleged criminal.
“The video shows a female wearing a pink shirt walk in about 15 minutes after our victim and leaves within four minutes,” said Willoughby Police Det. Lt. Tom Trem. “She walks in with one bag or purse, but she left with two.”
Trem said the suspect appears to be a woman in her mid-20’s to mid-30’s. The video makes it hard to determine the race of the suspect, but he said she may be pregnant.
The theft happened around 3:30 p.m. on the Fourth of July. The victim, an 83-year-old woman, told Fox 8 she was picking up a prescription for a sick relative.
“She had placed her purse in the cart, actually the baby seat of a shopping cart, when she turned her back for a moment, the purse was gone,” Trem said.
The victim lost several of her valuables, including house and car keys, credit cards, a Social Security Card and about $170.
But the victim said she’s grateful for the police and use of social media, and hopes someone is able to identify the woman who allegedly made her a victim.
