SOLON, Ohio – Five adults are arrested and a video has hit the Internet of a wild “foam party” that hit Solon late Friday night.
Police estimate that more than 700 teens gathered at Grantwood Golf Course, after hearing about the event on Twitter and Facebook. According to police reports, the teenagers paid $10 to attend.
“About 11:38 p.m., our dispatch was called to a loud, pretty ruckus party at Grantwood Golf Course pavilion,” said Lt. Bruce Felton of Solon Police Department. “Our officers responded and found juveniles everywhere. A lot of juveniles, a lot of cars. They saw evidence of alcohol, marijuana usage.”
In addition to the five adults charged, five juveniles were detained by police and may face charges.
“There are drug abuse charges for the marijuana,” Felton said. “There are at least one or two charged with underage consumption or underage possession of alcohol. A couple of curfew violations.”
Despite the fact that hundreds of teens attended the party, the golf course staff was completely surprised by the evidence – or lack of evidence – left behind.
“There’s no damage to the pavilion or any piece of Grantwood at all,” said Don Holub, Director of Recreation for the City of Solon. “It was very clean after they left, which is amazing.”
Holub said the golf course, which is operated by the city, will likely change its policies in the future. It’s likely than an officer will have to be present at all major events.
“We’re lucky. To my knowledge, nobody was hurt,” Felton said. “When you have a party this big with this many juveniles involved, it’s a dangerous situation that we want to involve in the future.”
The adults will have their first appearance in Bedford Municipal Court on Aug. 8.
