CLEVELAND — Forget the cake and ice cream! One local girl asked friends to donate pajamas for sick children for her birthday.
Riley Cierebiej, 11, wanted a way for sick children to feel more comfortable during their hospital stay. So, Riley collected PJs in lieu of presents for her birthday. Riley and her mom, Mary, brought 15 pajamas to Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital today.
“I don’t know why I picked PJs, but I want everyone to feel at home,” Riley said.”It’s nice to help those less fortunate.”
The Lakewood girl isn’t new to charity work. She’d been growing her hair out over the past few years, and in May, she donated 10 inches of her hair to help create wigs for cancer patients. She also aspires to be a pediatrician.
“It was very special,” said Mary. “She came up with the idea herself. It was really special to give it to them in person. She’s 11, but she’s really wise beyond her years. She’s a great kid.”
