PENINSULA, Ohio – Northeast Ohio got its first big snow of the season this week, and locals couldn`t wait to get a taste of it all – on the slopes.

Hundreds of people lined up for opening day at Boston Mills Ski Resort Friday afternoon.

“If you live in Cleveland, you have to learn how to ski, cause then you make your winters fun,” said Joe Bystricky of Medina.

Joe taught his seven-year-old son, Jake, how to ski last year.

From the bunny slopes to trickier trails, Joe said they were anxious to see the first snow fly.

”Are you kidding? We couldn’t wait,” “So we got our skis done back in September. We got them resurfaced…so they got resurfaced back in September, so we’ve been counting for the snow. Actually, I’m probably one of the few Clevelanders that’ve been there waiting for snow, hoping for it, even after Christmas. “

The ski resort says Brandywine will open at 3 p.m. Saturday.
