LAKEWOOD, Ohio –The Pizza place, staff to donate a day of profits to Cleveland kidnapping victims
“We’re having a fundraiser for Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight, where 100 percent of our pizza sales will go to the girls and their families,” he said.”
The three women were rescued from a Cleveland home, where they were held captive for 10 years. A child was also rescued.
Salmon hopes the money will help the women get a fresh start, and so far, the community has been enthusiastic to give back.
“The owner thinks that we’ll probably sell close to 2,000 to 3,000 pizzas that day,” Salmon said. “Normally, on our really busy days, we sell over 1,000. We’re expecting double that.”
All proceeds from pizza sales – strictly pizza sales – will go Amanda, Gina and Michelle.
Monday afternoon, the staff of Angelo’s met with the victims to determine what they would like to do with the money.
Angelo’s Pizza was one of the first items sent to Amanda’s home last Tuesday, when she returned home.
”It just shows you how good people really are,” said Kevin O’Brien of Newburgh Heights. ” There are bad people out here, but I mean, to get together and do something like that, give your time, give your product for free and to help somebody out, that’s just showing how caring communities really can be.”
Not only will they get donations from the pizza pie sales, Angelo’s employees have decided to donate their wages to the women for the day.
“To me, it’s nothing for the amount of years and days those girls, you know, had to suffer,” Salmon said. “One day’s worth of work is nothing. I don’t really see it as a big deal.”
Angelo’s Pizza is located at 13715 Madison Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio.
