CLEVELAND, Ohio — It was a mega-hot day of filming for Marvel’s upcoming movie “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”
Hundreds of people lined up on East 6th Street and St. Clair downtown, hoping to catch a glimpse of Hollywood.
”I’m a big fan of Marvel and the series and everything,” said Abdul Jalil, of Cleveland. “I think it’s good that they’re finally bringing these things to Cleveland. It’s really good for the city cause it’s a great location to film in.”
Filmmakers transformed downtown into Washington, D.C.
“I’ve been waiting to see Samuel L. Jackson,” said Jurgen Lee, of Akron. “It’s a great thing for these films to come to Cleveland. Very exciting. Can’t wait to see more action.”
Sure enough, Lee and dozens of others did get to see actor Samuel L. Jackson, who plays the character Nick Fury. On set, Jackson’s character appears to be caught in crossfire with police.
Although filming has certainly stirred a lot of excitement downtown, Clevelanders say they’re not looking forward to the shut-down of the West Shoreway.
Starting on May 29, the Shoreway will close from East 9th Street to Lake Avenue. The road will be closed for two weeks, but fans say it’s well worth the cost.
“I’m going to maybe ride my bike downtown if I can do that, cause I’m close on the west side, but traffic will be kind of insane next week,” said Heather Cause, of Lakewood. “But it’s worth it. Absolutely worth it.”
