For those planning to travel this holiday season, a local hotel claims to have the best deal in town.

LaQuinta Inn and Suites is offering reduced parking for airport travelers via a new website, www.GreenBeeParking.com. They’ve had the partnership for about a year-and-a-half, and about 35 customers use the service each month.

“We don’t utilize our parking lot to the fullest, so I have parking spots available that I can use with this relationship with GreenBee,” said hotel general manager Michael Aaron.

On the website, people can reserve a parking spot for $3.79 a day. The hotel will then transport people to the airport.

The hotel is located at 5500 W. Kellogg Dr., which is less than three miles from the airport.

For a week’s worth of parking, it will cost the following:
Long-term parking at Mid-Continent Airport – $9 a day/$63 a week
Park and Ride parking at Mid-Continent Airport – $6 a day/$42 a week
LaQuinta Inn & Suites parking – $3.79 a day + a $5 fee/$31.53 a week

Andover resident Crystal Sawyer was surprised to learn that the hotel option was nearly half the price of the long-term parking rate. Her family will travel East this Thanksgiving. She plans to use the hotel for her parking needs.

“[The airport] should offer the same prices that they do at the hotels,” she said. “It amazes me because the shuttle service will come and get you and take you over or whatever. When you park your car there and get back from your flight, they will come get you and take you to your car too.”
