Flight delays may be a concern for some travelers, but a group of very determined Kansans have tried very diligently to leave town to see Wichita State in action.

“We’re anxious, nervous, but we’re confident in our team,” said Ed Fields of Topeka.

Ed and his wife, Katy, trucked it down to Wichita to travel with the Shockers to Indiana State.

The road test could be a tough one for the undefeated Shockers. The Sycamores (17-5) are undefeated at home this season.

“This is a test,” Ed said. “Indiana State will be gunning for us after we put it to them pretty good down here. Trying to keep the streak alive. We’ve got the big target on our back now, everywhere we go.”

“I love that they never get up,” Katy echoed. “They play as a team. No matter what happens…they don’t get flustered. They just keep working at it. I love that aspect about them.”

Ed is a Wichita state alum. He and his wife have been season ticket holders for 20 years. They never miss a game.

“I love it,” Katy said. “It is the best. It’s so much fun to get to know the team and to spend time with them and get to an away game. There are very few of us there. The crowds are all against us and it’s great to see our team rally.”

Tipoff for the game starts at 7:05. The game on Fox Sports KC, ESPN Full Court & ESPN 3.
