As students head back to the classroom, those at Bethel College hope to start the semester by giving back.

Tuesday morning, the student body gathered to package 50,000 meals for the Harvey County Food Pantry.

“I feel like it’s important because we’re helping a bunch of people who are a little less fortunate, but I feel like it’s also good for the college,” said sophomore Preston Gaptor. “It brings us a lot closer together.”
“This is the perfect opportunity,” echoed junior Eric Preheim. “I think most people like to be able to give back, but never really know what way to really do it and I think this is a great opportunity Bethel’s presented us.”

Back in 2010, the college also packed meals for those in need. Those efforts went to help Haiti relief. A magnitude 7.0 quake rocked the country in January 2010. Thousands of people were killed.
