It appears rumors are true.

Costco may soon be arriving in Wichita.

This morning, the Sedgwick County Commission approved a petition that would remove a 17-acre portion of land from the Beech-Wichita Industrial District. This move will help make way for a new Costco at the south end of the Beechcraft site, located at Kellogg and Webb roads.

“You’ve probably seen in the last few months, the existing buildings and infrastructure has been demolished, been kind of pushing some dirt around on the site,” said Brett Lauritsen, an engineer with Olsson Associates.

The site will include a $6 million Costco wholesale store and a $750,000 gas station.
