UPDATE: Wichita police have determined the device that appeared to be a bomb is actually an alarm clock. No criminal intent is suspected.
Residents are being allowed to return to their rooms. They had been evacuated for about two hours while police waited for the bomb squad to arrive.
Police say the clock was designed to look like a bomb. KAKE’s Annette Lawless spoke to the maid who found the device and will have much more on the story later tonight on KAKE News.

Officials say a motel has been evacuated after a suspected explosive device was found in a room. It happened just before noon Monday at the Mark 8 Inn in the 1100 block of North Broadway.
911 dispatchers say a maid who was cleaning the room found what appeared to be a homemade bomb with a timing device left out on a table. They say the man who is staying in the room was gone at the time but was expected to return.
The building has been evacuated and the bomb squad has been called to investigate. Broadway remains open at this time.
