A man is seriously hurt after an early morning shooting in southeast Wichita. Now, investigators are looking for two suspects involved in the incident.
Wichita Police Sgt. Kenneth Kimble said the incident happened around 3:45 a.m. According to surveillance video, the victim and the suspects involved had a verbal confrontation inside the QuikTrip, located at 3106 E Pawnee St. Then, as the victim was leaving and entering a vehicle, a suspect confronted and shot him at close range. Police are not sure if the individuals knew each other.
The 21-year-old man was shot in the lower abdomen. Police say the suspect then tried to take the victim’s wallet.
A friend, who was with the victim, had rushed him to the hospital. EMS were able to flag them down and then transport the victim. He is listed in serious condition but expected to survive.
Kimble said the police department is looking for the alleged shooter and his driver. The shooting suspect was described as a black male, about 20 to 25 years old with short black dreadlocks.
The vehicle they were driving is described as a white, four-door car. It’s believed to be a 2013 or 2014 model.
