Here’s a look at some the hot topics on social media for June 6, 2016.

MISS USA CONTROVERSY

An Army Reserve officer and IT analyst from the District of Columbia has been crowned Miss USA 2016 after mounting a strong defense of women in combat roles in the military.

Deshauna Barber, a 26-year-old from the nation’s capital, gave the answer during the interview section of the pageant in Las Vegas on Sunday.

However, the talk of social media is regarding the interview with Miss Hawaii, Chelsea Hardin. Judge Laura Brown asked, “If the election were held tomorrow, would you vote Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump for president, and why would you choose one over the other?”

Hardin did not say whom she’d specifically support. However, she said, “It doesn’t matter what gender, what we need in the United States is someone who represents those of us who don’t feel like we have a voice, those of us who want our voices heard. We need a president to push for what is right, and push for what America really needs.”

Some folks sounded off on social media, saying the question is private and inappropriate for the competition. Others say Hardin’s sidestepped the answer, which they believe cost her the crown.

WEDDING CRASHER TAYLOR SWIFT

Taylor Swift didn’t let her break up with Calvin Harris get in the way of making a dream come true for one New Jersey couple.

The 26-year-old Grammy winner surprised bride and groom Kenya Smith and Max Smith by showing up at their wedding and performing an acoustic version of her 2014 hit, ‘Blank Space.’ Wedding guests, along with the newlyweds, were completely shocked — but it turns out the elaborate ruse was all orchestrated by Max’s sister, Ali.

“As it was happening, I just looked at [Ali] and she had that smile like she knew what was going on,” Max told Access Hollywood. “And I clearly didn’t, so I knew she had something to do with it.”

In April, Ali wrote Swift a letter, explaining that their mother had recently passed away and that Max went ahead and married Kenya in the hospital so that his mom wouldn’t miss it. Now grab your Kleenex, because Max and his mom’s first dance was to ‘Blank Space’ – the same song performed at the ceremony.

Swift, who is newly single, took to Instagram to post an adorable pic of herself with the bride and groom, along with the cheeky caption, “Third wheel.”

Swift and Harris confirmed their break up earlier in the week, much to the shock of their loyal Tayvin fans, who were convinced they were headed to the altar.

To top it all off, Swift even gave the couple a wedding gift, a handmade card with a line from ‘Blank Space,’ “So it’s gonna be forever.”

THOUSANDS DISAPPOINTED WITH KANYE WEST’S POP-UP SHOW

Thousands of fans gathered in Manhattan’s East Village for a pop-up concert with Kanye West. The event was planned for 2 a.m. Monday.

Some news reports say up to 4,000 people lined the streets to see West perform at Webster Hall. The concert did not happen, but West did make a quick appearance. There’s no official word as to why the concert did not happen, but some news organizations report that the event may have been too large for the venue. By 12:45 a.m., Webster Hall Tweeted, “There is no late show at Webster Hall tonight. Please go home safely.”

When fans learned the event was canceled, some people smashed cars and left piles of trash behind.
