An Oklahoma woman said a customer left her a hateful message in lieu of a tip.
Taylor Stewart was near the end of a double-shift at IHOP on Monday, when a man and his three kids came in for dinner, according to the Enid News.
A mistake was made on the order. She said she fixed the problem and apologized for the service.
However, when the looked at $36 ticket, she realized the customer didn’t leave her a tip. Instead, she said he left her a note saying, “Gay is wrong.”
‘When I went to pick up the check, I read it and I thought it said ”gray is wrong”, and I went and showed my girlfriend, and she was like what? And she said it said ”gay is wrong”,’ Stewart tells TV station KFOR. ‘I was just shocked. I was more shocked than hurt, but I mean it did hurt.’
Since then, Stewart said she’s received a lot of support. One woman even left her a mystery note and a $10.
“God calls us to love, not judge,” the mystery woman writes. “I put myself through college waiting tables. It is hard work and impossible to not make a mistake occasionally. Here is your tip and I hope your week gets better.”
