Children who rely on meals at school will now have a place to eat lunch –- thanks to a program starting today.

The “Filling the Gap Lunches for Kids” program will serve lunches today to Friday, Aug. 10.

In partnership with Kansas Food Bank and hundreds of volunteers, the program serves a nutritious sack lunch along with milk, fresh fruit and healthy snacks to more than 800 children a day during the gap between the end of the summer lunch program and the beginning of school.

The lunches are served at 19 different locations from noon to 1 p.m. The meals are available at no charge to kids 18 and under.
