Dreams really do come true.
I’m beyond honored to share that I will be joining Shane Ewing, Frank Waugh and our incredible weekday crew as co-anchor of Good Morning Kansas and Good Morning KAKEland. It means a lot to continue sharing the desk with the brightest morning family in town – a team that I’ve been a part of for nine years.
My journey at KAKE started much longer ago – almost 20 years, in fact. For two years, I interned at our legendary station. I didn’t know much about this business, but it was a chance for this wide-eyed Kansas State University student to learn from gifted storytellers. As I’ve shared before, my husband also interned at the same time. Now here we are, about 15 years into the TV industry, and we both are doing great.
That’s all because of KAKE.
It’s quite the full-circle moment.
I am anxious to continue to bring smiles to your faces every day, amid the stories you want to know and maybe a few that you didn’t realize you need to know. I hope to bring you food segments, Capture KAKEland photos and more special Missing in Kansas reports, among a lot of other big goals I’ve set for myself, as we move forward. I’m still on weekends for a couple more weeks, though, and I can’t wait to share more of who will take on that leadership role.
A big thank you to my bosses and Lockwood Broadcast for believing in me. Thanks to my friend and former GMK anchor Alyson Acklin, who has been a wealth of support during this transition. And, especially, to our viewers – thank you. I’ve grown a lot in my time here in Wichita. It’s home. I’m so proud to share stories where I grew up.
What a blessing, and to think, there are even bigger things to come.
