BEACHWOOD, Ohio–Cancer patients got an unexpected treat today.

Costmetology students at Brush High School treated patients to pariffin hand dips and hand and arm massages.

Students wanted to comfort patients undergoing chemotheraphy through the school’s “Beyond the Chair” outreach.

“It makes me feel good, helping them out and giving them a break with what they have to deal with every day,” said Eriana Rufus, a senior at Brush High School. “I hope this eases their stressed, makes them more relaxed.”

Families weren’t expecting the visit from the students.

“I think it’s great. As a caregiver, I’m helping my husband go through all this, and I’ve had a friend with cancer” said Linda Page, a wife of a cancer patient. “It feel so good.”

Linda and her husband make a one-hour commute so he can get treatments. Today’s surprise was just what they needed.

“Any kind of thing that helps pamper the patients and the family is very helpful,” she said. “It makes you feel special when you’re going through something.”
