CLEVELAND–Some Cleveland-area children in need got an unexpected holiday treat this afternoon.
Kids of the New Life Community–a program for homeless and jobless families–were surprised with new bicycles.
“My mom said, ‘Oh my god, you’re getting a bike,” exclaimed 9-year-old Sydni Love. “I was happy because my last bike had a flat tire.”
Locum Medical Group donated the 20 new bikes and helmets for the kids, but even parents couldn’t resist on checking out the new wheels.
“It’s a blessing, a true Christmas blessing,” one parent said, as she helped her son to his helmet.
It wasn’t long before the kids took their new gifts to the streets.
“I’m happy, just so happy,” said 7-year-old Lamont Hatchett.
Lamont said once his family moves into a permanent home, he can’t wait to share his gift with friends.
“It’s good. I can fit people on the back and the front,” he said, showing off his front- and back-wheel spokes. “I’m going to be riding all day long.”
