If you’re like me, everything can be last-minute, especially when getting your treats for a game-day bash.
Instead of buying a bag of chips to bring to the party, consider this super easy alternative to the layer dip: the cream cheese crab dip.
An unusual dip with flare, this one always gets my family compliments. The best part? It only takes minutes to make.
Ingredients
8-oz package of cream cheese, softened
1/4 tsp of worcestershire sauce
1/3 cup cocktail sauce
1/2 cup of imitation crab meat
1-2 scallions or green onion for decoration
Directions
1. In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese and worcestershire sauce. Spread mix evenly onto your serving dish.
2. Spread a layer of cocktail sauce over the cream cheese mix.
3. Chop crab meat and scallions. Sprinkle over the top of the cream cheese mix.
4. Chill until ready to serve. Serve with crackers.
TIPS
When making this dip, I tend to add a little more worcestershire sauce to my mix. My sisters like to add a splash of lemon juice to the cream cheese. You can substitute the imitation crab meat for the real stuff or shrimp.
Personally, this is one of my favorite family dips. I really enjoy eating this with whole wheat crackers. It’s just a great “fancy” recipe without all the fancy effort.
I want to say a big thank you to my sister, Rebecca, for sharing this recipe.
